Happy 20th Birthday!

Just so you're wondering, n0,he didn't write this post. I manage to sneak into his blogger account :P And if you're a loyal reader of this blog you should know who is blogging on behalf of the just-turned-20-year-old guy.

Anyway, I would like to wish Mr Lee all the best in his future undertakings, and may all his dreams come true. You guys can send your wishes too. Do leave comments, and tell him how wonderful it is to have someone like him around ;)

Delayed American Idol post

**Note: This post will be very boring if you're not keen on/don't watch AI**

American Idol Season 7 winner

Lol, I thought this picture looks rather gay but anyway, finally! The Americans did the right thing by choosing the person who deserved to win. Screwing up in the finals and not getting good comments from the judges should not be the main deciding factor. Too bad for Archuleta. You have an amazing vocal (no doubt) and I do think that you have a bright future ahead of you; but Cook's definitely a better bet. Between an excellent performer or a singer, which is your pick? =)

Anyway, that's right. Another season has passed and AI always impresses me with the quality of its contestants. Don't even compare it with our very own Malaysian Idol or Akademi Fantasia or Asian Idol? Haha. What a joke. This reminds me of my internship period in Astro last year. My friends thought I was crazy and ignorant for not knowing who Mawi is, and this famous Malay guy who appears in Astro very often. I forgot his name! Again.

Anyway, back to AI. If I were to pick a winner for all seasons, it will be:

Season 1: Kelly Clarkson
Season 2: Clay Aiken [Ruben Studdard won]
Season 3: Fantasia Barrino
Season 4: Carrie Underwood
Season 5: Chris Daughtry [Taylor Hicks won]
Season 6: Melinda Doolittle [Jordin Sparks won]
Season 7: David Cook

My favorite used to be Kelly Clarkson until Carrie Underwood won Season 4. Till now, I can't find anyone to replace her, yet. Since AI, she made country music really famous especially to people like me, who don't listen to country songs. Anyway, for those of you who's interested to listen to their wonderful songs, here are some suggestions:

Kelly Clarkson:
Because of You (favorite)
Since You've been Gone
Behind These Hazel Eyes
Breakaway

Fantasia Barrino:
I Believe? lol.

Carrie Underwood:
Before He Cheats (favorite)
Wasted (very nice also)
I'll Stand by you (favorite)
Last Name
So Small
Jesus take the Wheel

Chris Daughtry:
Home
Over You

Taylor Hicks:
Do I Make you Proud

Jordin Sparks:
Broken Wing! (favorite)
This is My Now

David Cook:
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing

Most of Carrie's and Kelly's songs are nice. So yes, download them! and, tell me if it's nice or if we share the same taste for songs. Perhaps, can start exchanging some (Really gotta update my iPod. Getting bored of the same ol' songs).

For those who like emo songs, here's 2 songs I really like:

I'll Stand by You by Carrie on "Idols Give Back"

Do I make You Proud by Taylor Hicks

Not that I'm emo, but I guess it's exam period now and these songs best describe what I'm feeling at this point of time =.=

Okay, back to pipelines and cache memory! Exam spree starts in 2 days!! Need strength and luck really badly, to survive.

Tuesday 20 May 2008

I'm actually hoping that time would pass faster so that I can finally watch the finals of AI and then result and get over with it once and for all (instead of getting it stuck at my head; pondering about who will clinch the title). However, the other part of me always hope that there is really more time to study! :( What if I don't pass 2nd year? Howw?? Exam starts in exactly a WEEK! :(

Life sucks for now. My daily routine is really screwed up and unhealthy. Weird sleeping hours and awful eating habits coupled with stress can really make one go crazy. Especially at this point of time. How not to go insane with an exam time-table like this:

27/5: Computer Architecture

29/5: Control Engineering
2/6: Digital Electronics 2
4/6: Maths 3
5/6: Maths 4
9/6: Communications 2
11/6: Signals and Systems
13/6: Software Engineering
16/6: Fields and Devices
17/6: Power
19/6: Analogue Electronics 2

If only I did not do things this last minute and had a better time management...

Why do I always ALWAYS do this! Some things just don't change!!!! =(

Cook! Cook! Cook! for American Idol!! =D

I doubt I've ever supported anyone that much ever since I've started watching American Idol but I've got to tell you, this guy by the name of David Cook (for those of you who don't keep up with AI) is amazing! I really hope he's the next American Idol! =D

Look, seriously. I am not claiming that David Archuleta isn't good but I don't think he's fantastic. It's no doubt that at an age of 17, his singing is way beyond his years. However, let's not forget that this is a singing competition and not a competition based on other factors like age/charm/whatsoever. David Archuleta won't make a very good recording artist, in my opinion. Who would want to listen to a string of ballard songs? Oh pleasee.. lol. I really do enjoy listening to some of his songs but I think I'm getting bored of it. Majority of Randy's comments to Cook was that it's "predictable" but why does Archuleta not receive comments like that? It was really as if Randy was against Simon this week. In that, I trust Simon haha =)

Anyway, the contestants entering finals next week are quite predictable. Let's just wait and see who will be crowned the next AI. To me, it's definitely Cook but oh well, there are reasons to why good contestants like Chris Daughtry or Elliot Yamin were voted out despite being more famous and selling more albums than their season winner. Anyway, let's just wait and see..

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing Cook's single! Do watch "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by him here.

Inspired by certain thoughts

I just realised that I'm one of the few bloggers who blogs in the wee hours of the night; being inspired by certain thoughts. This time, this post of mine will not be anything related to the horrendous exam from 27th May to 19th June.

As I was taking a break from Digital Electronics, I vaguely recalled someone (can't particularly remember who that person is) once telling me that I do take things for granted, at times. Back then, it was really hard to comprehend his statement but I think it really makes sense now.

Reflecting on my life for the past few years, I really think I do take a lot of things for granted (well, basically taking anything which one gives without returning back a favor, living a gleeful, sort of happy-go-lucky life without bothering about anything else).

However, I'm not saying that I am regretting all I've done, for I think it really teaches me a lot and I guess it made me more matured as well? lol. Anyway, that's a bit of the past and there's always the future to look forward to! It's time to improve myself =)

Anyway, on another note, for those of you who keeps up with American Idol (the ones from IC: Daryl, Cheng Chun), David Cook's the BOMB! Really hope he'll be the one clinching the title this year and NOT David Archuleta. That innocent/pleasant smile of this little kid.. Gosh, someone please get rid of him :(

A video of one of the songs performed by Cook, Billie Jean:

Enjoy!

Final exam

Is in approximately a months' time and I doubt I'm even half way through revising the entire 11 subjects. Digital electronics: super confusing + time-consuming, Analogue: er.. don't even ask, Comms 2: just printed and compiled my notes few days ago?, Fields/Devices/Power: hasn't started, Control: really need a book to understand the super concise notes..

Oh gosh, I don't think I would want to go on elaborating and ranting on the rest of the papers. This is getting really stressful.. Helppp~! =(

Monday 7 April 2008

Help~!!

I really foresee lots and lots of stressful/sleepless nights coming up for at least, the next 2 to 3 months! =( After 1st year, I clearly remembered that I told myself to not let this happen again but it looks like I've failed in that. I'm clearly a very very last minute worker/mugger. Will be leaving Blogger for a period of time (at least until end of June, unless I'm super bored and have lots of stories to tell).

11 papers in approx. 2 months time!! =( I've never sat for so many papers in my whole entire life; well maybe except for SPM but still! I'd rather take 12 to 15 SPM subjects....

Till then, ciao!

=(

Dunlop Table Tennis Masters in Royal Albert Hall!

Dunlop Masters returns after 3 decades and will be held for the first time ever at the ever-gorgeous Royal Albert Hall, UK on the 17th of March 2008. It will be contested by some of the world's top players like Timo Boll for instance; a German player currently ranked 4th in world. A top Chinese player will also be present.

Some quick background information:

It is a six-man competition for huge prize money encompassing 2 quarter-finals, 2 semi-finals and a final. We're not only expecting to see world class table tennis but also the presence of 'special guests' that apparently, will take the breath away! Specially installed big screens, featuring action replays and interviews with the players as they happen on court, will add to the sense of this occasion.

Best available tickets are currently at £15. Proceeds all go to charity!

I really would love to go and want some company. Anyone up for it? Do let me know as soon as possible!

Spice Girls Live at 02 Arena 16th Jan

For some rather weird reason; when Kavitha and Viky asked me if I wanted to go for a Spice Girls reunion concert, I delightfully agreed. A friend once asked me, "Why are you going for a SPICE GIRLS concert? You're there to see old women??"

Well, neither have I ever imagined that despite being one of their fans a decade ago. I vividly recalled liking Baby Spice then but 2 days ago, I was looking forward to see Posh Spice. Ever since her marriage with David Beckham since 1999, Posh gained popularity not only as an English pop singer; but also as a fashion designer, occasional actress and dancer. Throughout the entire show, whenever Posh took to the microphone, the crowd will burst into insane applause, despite the fact that she did not sing that many lines. She certainly has the highest profile of the 5 of them and I don't think many would have gone for the concert if she was not a part of it.

But no matter what, the rumour that the other 4 are seen as her backup dancers are certainly NOT true! I really enjoyed the solo performances of the 4 of them. Posh was the only one who did a catwalk for her solo; instead of singing. (Although I'm a fan of Posh, thank goodness she didn't sing. It would have been awful!)

Posh's solo catwalk:

Anyway, as an overall, concert was good. Pretty much enjoyed myself with Cindy, Kavitha and Viky.

Below are the pictures:

3 kids of Posh and Becks. They were sitting in the public! With bodyguards, of course. Anyway, David Beckham was smart enough to enter the arena a while after the show begins.

Before the show (at about 8pm)

Finale!

Well if you're looking for more pictures, can always see it at Cindy's blog.

Leona Lewis: Bleeding Love

When I initially hear this song, I thought it was just okay but it seems that I'm really loving it now!

Whenever I hear this song, it somewhat reminds me of Oxford Street. Leona sang live and I can't believe I missed that! :( Gotta try to keep myself updated with all these celebrity and/or London news. If any of you know/heard about anything, don't forget to give me a shout!

Here's Bleeding Love video in YouTube with a grand total of 34,000 ratings + 15 million views. Hope you like the song as much as I do.

Way to go Leona! Looking forward to your albums!

On another note, I'll be leaving for Birmingham tomorrow (after Lion Dance) to visit Joanne and my brother in Warwick.

Lab Reports

Are the most stressful things on earth.

After finally submitting a lab report on an experiment which I'm completely unsure about, I'm now happy, relieved and yet, deprived from sleep. Forcing myself to write a total of 1700 words on switch-mode power supplies is certainly an uphill task.

Things are quite okay for now; with the exception of work from last term and a group project. Besides that, I'm looking forward to a new start in this academic term :) Hopefully, things turn out to be much better than the previous.

Until then, I shall upload more pictures later!

What's going on the mind of our politician?

Quoted from The Star:

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek has admitted that he is the politician shown in the sex DVD that is being circulated in Johor.

He said the woman seen in the DVD was a personal friend.

In a press conference yesterday, Dr Chua said: “Who did it and why is obvious – but it is not important now. What is most important is that my family, wife and children have personally accepted my apology.”

His wife Datin Seri Wong Sek Hin said later in a statement that she and the family would stand by him. Dr Chua, who is MCA vice-president and Labis MP, said he would not be resigning over the sex DVD but would let the Prime Minister decide on the matter.

“I have seen Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and I have personally apologised to them,” he said, reading from a one-page statement.

He also apologised to Malaysians, his supporters and colleagues.

Dr Chua said he did not record the video clip.

“I saw the DVD on Sunday when a friend gave a copy to me,” he said. He said he was unsure whether the clips were recent or old. (what? -.-)

Asked about his political future, Dr Chua said: “I leave it to party members, leaders and the Malaysian public to be the judge. It's not for me to speculate.”

Dr Chua, who was clad in a yellow batik shirt, said he met with Abdullah on Monday.

Asked about what had transpired and the reactions from Abdullah, Najib and Ong, he said it was better to get the reactions from them as he could not comment on their behalf.

On his next course of action, Dr Chua said: “I will think about it after meeting the press.”

He said that although so far no police report had been lodged, the Inspector General of Police himself has initiated investigations.

“Of course, as a responsible citizen I will assist in the police investigations. It is a crime to intrude into people’s privacy or into a person’s room,” he said.

Dr Chua said it would be business as usual for him. He had earlier attended a function at the Segamat hospital before holding the press conference at 4.10pm.

Also present at the packed press conference were about 100 supporters and leaders, including state MCA deputy liaison chief Tan Kok Hong, Pulai Sebatang assemblyman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, Senai Assemblyman Chun Yoon Fook and Pengkalan Rinting assemblyman Low Teh Hian.

After the press conference, Dr Chua left for Bekok to meet with the Indian community there. “I will not let people tarnish, prevent and stop me from carrying the duties entrusted to me as a minister, MP and party leader,” he said.

He thanked his colleagues, supporters and Malaysians for their concern and support which he had received through phone calls and SMSes.

Asked how his family was coping, Dr Chua appealed to the press to give him and his family space during this difficult time.

What's on the mind of our very own politician? It is true that invading people's privacy is not right, but still! How would that reflect on the rest of the citizens when it's our very own leader who is doing such a thing? And, these news are already on CNN (source) and BBC (source)

It really takes a long time for a man to build up a good impression and it takes only one day for him to tarnish his image. Anyway, what's your point of view on this issue?

2008 in London!

It took them 51 weeks of planning, months of design work and a week of night-time construction - when tourists are scarce on London's South Bank - to lay the equipment necessary to welcome year 2008 with a £1.3 million, ten-minute bang. Designed by a French pyrotechnic (the emperor of pyrotechnics whose previous triumphant displays include Millennium celebrations at Eiffel Tower, opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and closing ceremony of 1998 World Cup in Paris) and his team from the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2004 Athens Olympics, this year's fireworks is probably the biggest in history. An approximate number of 700,000 people were here to witness this 10-minute show here at London.
Hence, that explains why this is probably the best fireworks I've ever seen in my whole entire life. Anyway.....

Heng Kai wishes everyone Happy New Year 2008!
For my family/friends who are back in Malaysia or in other countries, wishing you all the best in everything you do! I know I'm a very terrible person when it comes to keeping in touch with others; and I do hope we (either me or you) will keep in touch more often in the future :)

For those who are studying/with me in the UK, may 2008 be another successful year for us! We shall strive to study, work hard and do better than last year.

All in all, I'm not writing down my resolutions for this year over here since I don't really have one. Personally, I thin
k it's not necessary as I don't believe that it'll certainly come true. However, I do have my own targets/goal to achieve for 2008. If you have your own resolutions, I'll be more than happy to hear it out :)

Goodbye 2007 and together we shall welcome 2008.

See the fireworks here for yourself: (Taken from BBC)
